This week I have a guest mystery object for you, courtesy of regular mystery-solver Joe Vans:

Joe sent it to me as a bit of a challenge, and it was great fun to have a chance to figure it out – it reminded me of why I started this blog in the first place!

Joe was kinder to me than I usually am to you, as he provided a locality to help with identification, so it would be churlish of me to not do the same for you. Joe said:
