This week, having more or less recovered from last week’s bout of illness, I have a great little skull for you to have a go at identifying:
Any idea which species this might be? As usual, you can leave your thoughts, questions and suggestions in the comments box below. Have fun!

What a dear little mousy thing! Ridiculously sad or ‘Tragic-ulus’?
Nicely done! Although slightly off with the Genus 😉
… although maybe not!
Oh dear, that looks like something the cat might bring in, if it was a large cat.
Probably wouldn’t even need to be a particularly large cat!
A legendary smart ass from Asian child stories
I love that fact – thanks for sharing!
My, what big eyes you have!
All the better to look terrified?
I thought of a repetitive phallic name… but alas, no glands nor horns…. still seeking
Definitely not one of those. That would be gratuitous 😉
If a Tragus is a NEW Tragus it would be…
Ah, but this is tiny rather than new…
Chris Jarvis has the genus worked out, but which species? I’d suggest the globose braincase narrows it down to two, and of those I think its shape best matches the whose name is based on an island connected with coffee.
That’s what I was thinking, but on checking, it’s another species – and indeed genus!
Actually – on closer inspection I think the identification on the specimen may be incorrect, so we may have been on the right track after all…
Well the watery one can be ruled out easily by the nice premax-nasal contact. There is no antorbital vacuity so does that rule out all Moschiola, or just meminna ?
Your reasoning matches mine – I’m sure it’s T. at this point
Why not a napu? Is this female?
Yes to female, no to napu 😉
… although I may rethink that, taking – you could be on to something!
