This week I have a slightly startled looking mystery object for you, from the Dead Zoo:
Do you know what this wide-eyed critter could be? Bonus points if you know where it’s from.
If you think you know, drop a cryptic clue in the comments below. I hope you have fun working it out!
Oh dear! Its a mouse. Hard to say where from, Java perhaps?.
Not quite, but very close
Mousie or maybe pud-dle jumper from SA?
First time is the charm ;)
I’m 99% certain it comes from the Dead Zoo. Oops, sorry, not very cryptic.
That’s just where it is now ;)
thinking southern, is it repetitive like tuk tuk?
Uh uh.
If it was a little repetitive African bovid I think you’d see the big glandular opening in front of the eye. Supporting my ID you can see a hint of a pale stripe at the base of the neck..
This ^
I would be less timid as a mouse to suppose this specimen hails from Java.
It might be mousey, but it doesn’t share it’s origin with a well known coffee blend…
Well then… guess I will just hop over to Vietnam!
I thought about that. What if the Dead Zoo has one the tiny handful of older taxidermy specimens? But the coat colour is distinctly uniform, not two-tone, so I’m guessing it is one of the many subspecies of kanchil, from somewhere in SE Asia.
