I’ve not had an unusual mystery object for a while, so lets see how this one works out:
Any idea what this identification of this recent acquisition might be?
As always you can leave your thoughts, questions and suggestions in the comments box below. Have fun!
Looks like my roast pork, after it’s been in the fridge for a few hours. But I’m not going to guess bore. Will think a bit.
Not quite the Cthulhu, but I’d guess it’s not a far distant cousin of the Kraken. But if that’s right I cannot tell if it’s 8, or 10+2 or…
10+2 – very well done!
🙂
A-ha! One of the big boys, yes? Soon to be stretched out in a formaldehyde bath?
Should it remind me of Culture Club’s ‘Karma, Karma, Karma Carnelian’?
animal, vegetable or mineral?
at one angle i see lasagna, another angle is some sort of conglomerate, but a different glance looks like a splattering of what my grandfather would’ve called “amateur night,” after a bout of heavy drinking…
the top left corner still leads me to SiO2
Believe it or not, it’s animal!
When I cut flesh, fat and brains off dead animals I want to turn into clean skeletons , and put it in a bucket in a freezer, this is about what I see when I look into that bucket later. However, I don’t think that’s the kind of stuff which would be worthy for inclusion in a museum collection
I’d tend to agree – this isn’t quite that bad, but it’s getting there….
If my kitchen counter were made of this, I’d never eat again.
Sorry about this not being very “punny”. I’m guessing this is a detail view of a sample of a metaconglomerate, probably fossiliferous.
Believe it or not, it’s a long way from rock.
OK: Then it looks like bone marrow. I’m having a hard time seeing how it would be molluscan.
Is it squishy or fosssilized? Hard to say – looks like a slice of frozen, chopped octopus! 🙂
It’s squishy and you’re remarkably close!
The collective here in the office is a mineralized animal the died horribly…like a fossilized tree without the happy factor.
head cheese!
I’ll confess to being stumped. I shall wait patiently for the answer. I shall sit here, on and off, for days….
