Other than eliminating some obvious wrong ones, sheer guesswork!
I initially thought “hyena”, but that’s not one of the bloody choices 😦
And hyaenas don’t normally stand 12.5 cm to the shoulder…
Looks like a very small dog, such as a Chihuahua.
Maybe, though, a hedgehog, but mounted rather strangely.
Just be sure to post your final decision on the poll!
I’m off to bed in a mo, to round up on progress so far. According to the poll results up to now, just one person has correctly identified the skeleton.
There is still the remainder of the weekend for those who haven’t voted to claw back some dignity – spread the word and see if victory can be snatched from the jaws of defeat!

Can’t be canine, feline, or rodentian – look at the teeth.
Got to be a hedgehog I think.
My first thought was a big ferret, pine marten or similar. 12.5 cm seems a bit small for a badger but then I think in old money.
