This week I have an object that was found in Ireland, in a field, near a river. I was asked to identify it, since the same location had yielded some interesting archaeological finds and this object’s surprisingly light weight made it clear it wasn’t just an ordinary pebble:
Any idea what this could be?
As ever you can leave your thoughts, questions and suggestions in the comments box below – I hope you have fun with this one!
Maybe a fragment of pumice (solidified vulcanic ash) that has been polished while being in a riverbed among other pebbles?
Nice reasoning, but this is of zoological origin!
Tres (coo!) Biz(o)arre?! A hairy one this week. Licking my lips (but not yet my scalp) to find out if my guess is right!
Bravo!
Without the rest of the pics, it looks like the fovea capitis of a pumice femur.
I can certainly see that – but there are other pics 😉
Bread 🤔
I wouldn’t eat it 😉
I am not sure eggactly what species… but I am hoping I’m not to cracked up on my guess. Thinking the hole is a pip hole. Can we get an MRI on it? (Yea right)
