This week I have another specimen for you that I came across while moving the Dead Zoo’s insect collections:
This one’s pretty small – only around 6-8mm. It was collected in Ireland, so if you’re not sure what it is, you only have around 11,999 species to rule out before you get the right answer 😉

Oh, and to see your species, would I have to go to Killard Point? Otherwise, (if it’s the one I’m thinking it may be) I’d have better luck with its numerous cousins in Kenya! 🙂
So I think I know the answer because one of Paolo’s friends posted it elsewhere, but for the life of me I would have no idea how to go about systematically identifying this thing. It seems to be an “either you know it or you don’t ” kind of thing. So I look forward to Friday’s big reveal.
