This week I have a nice mystery object for you from the Dead Zoo to have a go at identifying:
It may not be the most festive looking object, but it is embedded in a piece of pine, and that’s about as festive as I can manage. Any idea what it is?
Oh how boring! Nonetheless I reckon I can put my finger on the species. Can’t really come up with another good cryptic clue, maybe something about piddling on a dock?
When I was 6, my mother drove us to Florida for the winter. We visited Sanibel Island and found angel-wing mollusk shells – pure white, thin, beautiful. Frosty! as the kids say.
Hummm. Could be a boring subject with a small history.

If I don’t get this right I’ll feel like a right piddock!
What a boring bivalve!
Boring piddock? Pholas dactylus or related?
