Friday mystery object #236

This week I have a double mystery for you.  There is a sound recording from the British Library SOund Archive, courtesy of curator Cheryl Tipp and there is also a skull for you to identify:

Do you think that the sound and the skull belong to the same species, or do you think I’m trying to trick you?

You can put your thoughts, questions and suggestions in the comments section below. Have fun!

  1. Could it be a Superb Lyrebird? (Didn’t hear it mimicking a loggers chainsaw or the theme from ‘Neighbours’ so not sure!)

  2. I think that the SONG and the skull are the same bird. The skull is a little short for the blackbird. Is it a storm calling mud lining nest snail guzzler!

  3. They do belong to the same bird but it is not a blackbird 😉 close relative though with “song” in its name!
